A highly competitive league for grades 7th and 8th to hone their skills in field hockey. There are 7 weeks of games, including the Columbus Day Tournament, which takes place on both Saturday and Sunday. Games are played on Sundays from 11am to 6pm. Typically, two double headers are played each season.
Evaluations will be completed to determine players for the A division team and B division team; however, both teams will still practice together. (see FAQ for more info)
Since this league is highly competitive, the best 11 players will play each game. After 2 years of Badgers, the players should now have a very good understanding of the game and be able to execute at a higher level of play. Athletes will be pushed to play their best at every game and every practice. Starting spots will be awarded to players that execute the highest level of play AND utilize excellent team work.
Practices will start the last week of July and will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. They will run from approximately 5:30-8:30pm; long practice hours allow for proper stretching, agility, and field play on a weekly basis. Once the school year begins, practice will be cut down to 6-7:30ish, depending on the daylight.
This division truly pushes the athletes to work hard and be the best athlete they can be. In addition, playing many different teams helps prepare the for HS and College when they will face many different players at various skill levels. At this division, playing as a collective unit is a must; players will learn how to play with each other and defeat the opponent as a whole.
